US Soybean Farmers Hurt Due To China: Trump Ahead Of Meet With Xi Jinping

Trump attacked his predecessor for failing to enforce a trade agreement that required China to purchase billions of dollars’ worth of US farm products, including soybeans.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in four weeks and the issue of soybeans will be one of the key issues in the discussions.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “The Soybean Farmers of our Country are being hurt because China is, for ‘negotiating’ reasons only, not buying. We’ve made so much money on Tariffs, that we are going to take a small portion of that money, and help our Farmers. I WILL NEVER LET OUR FARMERS DOWN!”

According to a report by NBC News, US-China relations have been strained in Trump’s second term by an ongoing trade war, technological competition and differences over wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Earlier this month, Trump said after a phone call with Xi Jinping that they would meet at the October 31-November 1 APEC summit in South Korea and that his visit to China early next year.
