US President Donald Trump hosted a formal dinner for members of Congress on Thursday evening in the newly renovated Rose Garden at the White House. The event marked the first gathering in the updated space, where Trump showcased significant changes made to the historic garden.
Welcoming the guests, President Trump remarked on the redesign, highlighting the removal of the central grass patch, which has now been replaced with decorative tiles. “You’re the first ones on this great place — we call it the Rose Garden Club,” he said, introducing the venue with pride.

During his address, Trump spoke at length about what he referred to as the “Great Big Beautiful Bill.” Describing the legislation, the president noted its tax-related provisions aimed at working-class Americans. “It gives the greatest tax cuts in the history of our country. When you think No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Social Security, No Tax on Overtime — these are working class things,” he said, emphasising the bill’s focus on economic relief.
Before dinner was served, the president led a brief prayer, asking for strength and protection for those serving the nation. “Pray for our members of the military and intelligence community and law enforcement and so many first responders that they are in harm’s way tonight as we are in safety,” Trump said.
The evening also included a swipe at the media, as Trump addressed recent online rumours regarding his health. Referring to speculation about his death, the President dismissed the claims as false. “The Fake News was at it again because I missed one day of press conferences! So today I gave them about a three hour press conference,” he said, drawing laughter from some in attendance.
