US President Donald Trump directly blamed former President Joe Biden for the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war during a high-profile meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday. The summit, being held at the White House, is being attended by several European heads of state. It is taking place just days after Trump’s recent meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During his media interaction, Trump was outspoken in his criticism of Biden, making it clear that he holds the former president responsible for the conflict. When asked which side he believes has the upper hand after meeting with both Russian and European leaders, Trump responded, “Well, this isn’t my war, this is Joe Biden’s war. He’s the one that had a lot to do with this happening and we wanna get it ended and we want it to end good for everybody.”

The President’s frustration with the press and his critics was also evident in a series of social media posts leading up to the meeting. Trump emphasised what he sees as a lack of recognition for his efforts to bring global conflicts to an end during the early months of his second term.

“I’ve settled 6 Wars in 6 months, one of them a possible Nuclear disaster, and yet I have to read and listen to the Wall Street Journal, and many other who truly don’t have a clue, tell me everything that I am doing wrong on the Russia/Ukraine MESS,” he wrote.

Trump reiterated his belief that he is best positioned to resolve the war, claiming that had he remained in office during the previous term, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine would never have started.

“I’m only here to stop it, not to prosecute it any further. I know exactly what I’m doing, and I don’t need the advice of people who have been working on all of these conflicts for years, and were never able to do a thing to stop them,” he added.

He also criticised his detractors, saying his “lightweight and very jealous critics” continue to nitpick his decisions while offering no viable solutions themselves.
