A Lamborghini Huracan EVO stolen in a multi-million-dollar luxury car theft ring has been recovered after its owner used ChatGPT to help trace it.

Andrew Garcia lost the car two years ago when thieves posing as renters failed to return nearly two dozen supercars, authorities said at the time.

The vehicles were later resold using falsified paperwork.

While most of the stolen cars were found, Garcia’s remained missing until an Instagram user recently sent him photos of the Lamborghini, asking if he had sold it.

The tip came after the person discovered a business card left inside the car.

Garcia launched his own investigation, uploading the images into ChatGPT and combining the results with Google’s location features.

The search eventually took him to Denver, Colorado, where he alerted the police. Acting swiftly, the cops located and confirmed the missing Huracán EVO.

Cale Gould, spokesperson for the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority, commended the unusual approach taken in the case.

“This proactive intelligence gathering is a really great benefit to helping recover stolen vehicles,” he said.

The probe into who had possession of the car in Colorado remains active, with police yet to clarify whether those individuals were directly tied to the theft.

Meanwhile, members of the theft network in California are already facing legal repercussions. One suspect has been convicted and is awaiting sentencing on theft and embezzlement charges, while another is scheduled to appear in court in October.

The Huracán EVO is among Lamborghini’s most coveted models, boasting a 5.2-litre V10 engine with 631 hp, capable of 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h.
