A doctor in the UK has been permanently struck off after uploading an image of himself performing brain surgery on a patient to a dating site where he was showing the patient’s exposed brain during live surgery without their consent, the UK-based Independent reported.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) found that Dr Sayed Talibi, from Tamworth in Staffordshire, had posted the graphic image in September 2017 along with a description of himself as a “28-year-old brain surgeon.”

According to the report, the tribunal also heard of a string of serious misconduct: Talibi was accused of threatening a woman with waterboarding, making racist remarks, posing with weapons, and engaging in abusive behaviour. An unnamed woman alleged he subjected her to “forced sex” and repeated abuse.

The tribunal further found that Talibi had downloaded and viewed videos of killings and beheadings, as well as images of waterboarding devices. He was also recorded making racist and derogatory remarks such as “I hate Afghan culture” and “I hate kuffar [non-Muslims] and white people” between January 2016 and August 2017.

Surgeon Reported Self

Talibi was immediately removed from the General Medical Council (GMC)’s register, which is the UK equivalent of India’s National Medical Commission licence, meaning he can no longer practise medicine.

The Independent reported that Talibi himself first alerted the GMC in October 2017, informing the regulator about what he described as “totally unfounded” allegations made against him. But by July 2018, West Midlands Police had arrested him on suspicion of coercive and controlling behaviour and three allegations of rape. Officers seized his devices and found images of him with knives, an axe, and replica firearms.

Stole Milk Powder

During the hearings, the MPTS ruled that Talibi had threatened to waterboard the woman, which is a torture method that simulates drowning and physically assaulted her in 2016–17.

He was also found to have “intentionally penetrated the woman without her consent” in 2017, and later violated a court order preventing him from contacting her in 2018. Police ultimately did not file charges in relation to the rape allegations.

His misconduct extended beyond clinical practice. The MPTS noted he had stolen £23.50 worth of milk powder from an Asda store in May 2017 and supplied false information to his energy provider over a £770 bill a month later.

Citing the findings, the tribunal ruled that Dr Talibi’s behaviour was incompatible with professional medical standards and ordered him struck off with immediate effect.
