The Duke of York Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson were informed that King Charles will not be looking to invite them to spend Christmas with the royal family this year, according to a report by Times of London.

A report by the Guardian this month cited new documents released by US House Oversight which show that Andrew’s name appears in Epstein’s flight manifests and in daily schedules alongside other high-profile figures. A separate report by the Al Jazeera said that a financial disclosure included in the newly released files points to payments made by Epstein to masseuses “on behalf of someone named Andrew”.

Prince Andrew has long faced questions over his ties to Epstein, and in 2022 he reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of sexual assault when she was a teenager allegedly trafficked by Epstein.

While Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing, the fallout was compounded by his disastrous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, in which he failed to convincingly explain his relationship with Epstein and faced widespread criticism.

The combination of the settlement and the interview led him to step back from royal duties, and his public standing has remained severely diminished since.

“You can’t sack someone from being your brother. But this year, if the duke and duchess were both to be as honorable [as last year], it would be very much for the best and the family would not be disappointed, not least to avoid the King having to make any more difficult decisions,” an insider told the Times of London.

The insider added that King Charles wants the duo to remain “invisible” at future family events.

Sarah Ferguson, Britain’s Duchess of York, also landed in a fresh controversy after media reports that she had described the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as a “supreme friend” in an email.

According to the Sun on Sunday newspaper, Ferguson, 65, the ex-wife of King Charles’ brother, Prince Andrew, sent the message to Epstein in 2011, weeks after giving an interview in which she said she would never contact him again.

As a result, at least five charities last week said the duchess could no longer continue as one of their patrons.
