A Finnish woman was allegedly killed while playing an online game during a livestream, as a British gamer she was playing with watched the attack unfold in real time.

The unnamed British man had been in a ten-hour gaming session with the 32-year-old woman when he suddenly heard her window being smashed with what he believed was a brick.

The woman, based in the southeastern Finnish town of Puumala, then appeared to engage in a brief conversation in Finnish with the intruder before screaming, UK-based Metro reported.

Shortly after the incident, at around 5am on April 23, the British gamer contacted local police by email to report what he had witnessed and express concern for the woman’s safety. Authorities responded and later found her dead at her home.

The suspect, described by police as a “complete stranger” to the victim, is believed to have travelled from Imatra, roughly an hour’s drive away.

After the attack, he reportedly drove to a barn, set it on fire, and was later seen walking out engulfed in flames. Witnesses said he emerged with his arms outstretched before collapsing.

The man was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. Police have confirmed he was the only suspect and that no other individuals were involved. With his death, the investigation has since been closed.

The incident comes amid the recent death of French streamer Raphael Graven, also known as Jeanpormanove, who died shortly after a livestream that allegedly involved abusive behaviour.

Graven, 46, was known for his appearances on the streaming platform Kick, where he endured apparent humiliation during broadcasts. He was found unresponsive at his home near Nice earlier this week. Despite online footage showing troubling scenes, prosecutors reported no evidence of physical assault and said initial autopsy results found no signs of trauma.
