Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, delivered a strongly worded address to the Pakistani community in Brussels during his two-day visit from August 10–11, warning India against what he called deliberate efforts to undermine Pakistan’s peace and sovereignty.

Speaking to a gathering of overseas Pakistanis, diplomats, and community leaders, Munir accused New Delhi of operating through proxies inside Pakistan.

“India is actively funding and supporting banned outfits like the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) to destabilise our country,” he said. “Let it be clear: Pakistan is a peaceful nation, but we will not allow anyone to destroy our peace.”

He also issued a sharp warning to the Indian leadership, saying India was being pushed deeper into radicalism. “But we will not tolerate any aggression. It is my duty to avenge the blood of every Pakistani.”

The army chief confirmed that Pakistan has delivered a “clear message” to the Afghan Taliban, demanding they rein in TTP elements operating from Afghan territory. “We have made it clear to the Taliban: Pakistan will not permit terrorists to use Afghan soil to target our people,” he said.

Munir also touched upon Pakistan’s foreign relations, underlining the country’s “balanced approach” between the United States and China. “Pakistan has established close working relationships with the United States and with President Donald Trump,” he said. “In fact, we were the first to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Now the world is following our lead.”

However, he emphasised that Islamabad will not sacrifice one ally for the other. “We value both China and the United States. Our foreign policy is about balance, not alignment.”

On the economic front, the COAS highlighted Pakistan’s untapped potential in the mining sector, particularly rare earth minerals and the Reko Diq gold and copper project. “Reko Diq alone can generate 2 to 3 billion dollars annually. We’re receiving numerous investment proposals for rare earth minerals,” he said. “Pakistan has immense economic potential waiting to be unlocked.”

Top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 that Munir is deploying a tougher stance on India and militancy to consolidate internal support and counter the popularity of opposition leader Imran Khan. They also allege that the army chief is using national security rhetoric as a political tool.

The sources accused Munir of overstepping his constitutional role, dubbing him a “jihadi in uniform” or a general “trying one trick every day” to assert dominance in Pakistan’s power landscape.
