In a significant breakthrough in cancer treatment, Russian scientists have claimed to develop a vaccine named ‘Enteromix,’ which has shown 100% effectiveness and safety in clinical trials. This development comes as a beacon of hope amid the global rise in cancer cases.

The vaccine, created by Russia’s National Medical Research Radiological Center in collaboration with the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology, has reportedly demonstrated the ability to not only reduce tumour size but also, in some cases, completely eliminate cancer cells.

According to reports, the Enteromix vaccine employs COVID-19 mRNA vaccine technology but expands its application to form a personalised immunotherapy against cancer.

How The Enteromix Vaccine Works

Administered as an intramuscular injection, Enteromix trains the body’s immune system to specifically target and destroy cancer cells without harming healthy cells, according to reports.

This key feature claims to mitigate the adverse effects commonly associated with traditional chemotherapy and radiation, which often damage the entire body.

It has been claimed that during clinical trials, the vaccine was found to be safe with no serious side effects, paving the way for its preliminary use in several major cancer centres across Russia.

Positive Developments For India

For India, the vaccine may hold promise for patients battling lung, breast, colorectal, or pancreatic cancer, as well as those with high-risk genetic mutations like BRCA1 or BRCA2. Moreover, it may offer a viable option for patients who cannot endure chemotherapy or radiation.

Currently, Enteromix is in the final stages of regulatory approval by the Russian government, with widespread use anticipated soon after approval. Due to the strong trade and strategic relations between India and Russia, the vaccine is expected to be readily accessible to Indian cancer patients. Should the results in India mirror those observed in Russia, this innovation could revolutionise cancer treatment globally.
