“Punishment” For Violating Gang Code
As per a report by BBC, authorities said that these women were lured into a van in the pretext of partying, but they were taken to get “punished” for violating gang code.
On of the persons in police custody showed the video of the incident. In the video, the alleged gang leader is heard saying, “This is what happens to those who steal drugs from me.”
The authorities have released a photograph of the alleged Peruvian mastermind and said that he would be in the custody soon.
Protests Across The Country
The horrific crime has sparked outrage in Argentina and the relatives of the woman and minor are staging organised protests across the country. Feminist and human rights groups accompany them in the demonstration.
“They took her away from me and I want them to pay for what they did,” the mother of Brenda del Castillo told reporters. “I want everybody to pay.”
As per a report by AFP, the victims’ relatives held a banner with their names — “Lara, Brenda, Morena” — and placards with their images, flanked by supporters as they marched to Parliament.
“It was a narco-feminicide!” “Our lives are not disposable!” read signs and banners as protesters banged on drums at the march, organized by a feminist group.
