In Tamil Nadu, eligible women are being given Rs 1,000 per month under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, also known as the Women’s Rights Scheme. Approximately 1.14 crore women heads of households are currently receiving this monthly assistance.

Applications for the Women’s Rights Scheme are being accepted through the With You Stalin initiative, with the Tamil Nadu government assuring that applicants will receive a decision within 45 days. This has led to a surge in daily applications across districts, with thousands of women coming forward enthusiastically.

Like the Women’s Rights Scheme in Tamil Nadu, women are going to be given Rs 2100 per month in Haryana under the Deen Dayal Laado Laxmi Yojana. During the 2024 assembly elections in Haryana, the BJP had promised that if they come to power again, women would be given Rs 2,100 per month.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday announced that the state government will roll out the Deen Dayal Laado Laxmi Yojana from September 25. The decision, which fulfills one of the BJP’s major election pledges, was cleared during a cabinet meeting that focused solely on the scheme’s implementation.

The Chief Minister said that women aged 23 and above, regardless of marital status, will be eligible for the scheme. In its initial rollout, the scheme will cover families with an annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh, benefitting an estimated 19–20 lakh women. He added that the initiative will gradually be extended in phases to include women from higher income brackets as well.
