BJP MP from Farrukhabad, Mukesh Rajput’s sister, has alleged that her in-laws attempted to record her video when she was bathing, and they later assaulted her after her objection, officials said on Sunday.

Reena Singh filed a police complaint against her father-in-law, Laxman Singh, and brothers-in-law, Rajesh and Girish, whom they accused of assault and threatening to kill her, the police said.

The incident took place in Rani Avantibai Nagar.

She claimed that while she was bathing on Sunday afternoon, Laxman Singh and Girish attempted to record a video of her through the window. When she raised her objection to the heinous act, they allegedly verbally abused and physically assaulted her, she said in her complaint.

She also claimed that her father-in-law pulled out a licensed rifle and threatened her, stating, “I will shoot you.” He also assaulted her with a stick, Reena Singh alleged, news agency PTI reported.

Brother-in-law Rajesh attacked her with a sharp knife and injured her hand, and Girish also attacked her with an iron rod, according to her complaint.

“I have two daughters, so my in-laws beat me up. They have been torturing me for a long time, and for some reason they want to get rid of me,” India Today quoted her saying in the complaint.

The BJP MP’s sister claimed that she continues to receive threats even after the brutal assault.

Station House Officer of Sahawar Police Station, Chaman Goswami, said that a case was registered against Laxman Singh, Rajesh, and Girish based on her complaint.

“The matter is being investigated, and strict action will be taken against the culprits as per the law,” he said.

She has urged the authorities to provide her protection from further assault and sought justice.
