Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray visited the Thackeray family residence, Matoshree, in Mumbai on Sunday, October 5. The visit included a direct meeting with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, showing that ties between the two Thackeray families are improving.

The meeting came immediately after the Thackeray brothers attended the birthday celebrations of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s grandson. Raj Thackeray left the party before Uddhav, heading straight to Matoshree, with his wife, Sharmila Thackeray, accompanying him. This marks her first visit to the residence in several years.

MNS leaders’ meeting

Following the visit to Matoshree, Raj Thackeray called a meeting of MNS leaders and general secretaries at the Dadar Shivtirth residence in Mumbai. The session, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6, will focus on organisational planning and preparations for the upcoming local body elections in Maharashtra.

Sources said that Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray held a half-hour discussion during this visit, signalling a thaw in relations and the potential for political coordination between the two parties.

Five meetings in 3 months

This recent visit marks the fifth meeting between the Thackeray brothers in the past three months, highlighting a steady rapprochement:

July 5, 2025: The brothers shared the stage at a victorious rally after 20 years.

July 27, 2025: Raj visited Matoshree on Uddhav Thackeray’s birthday.

August 27, 2025: Uddhav visited Raj’s residence during Ganesh Utsav.

September 10, 2025: Uddhav returned to Raj’s residence with Sanjay Raut and Anil Desai.

October 5, 2025: Raj visited Matoshree after attending the birthday event.

This pattern of regular meetings suggests that the two leaders are likely to cooperate in the forthcoming municipal elections.

At the birthday celebration, the Thackeray family also took a group photograph, with Raj standing alongside Uddhav’s son, Aditya Thackeray. These meetings and gestures show the family is reconciling and could also influence politics in Maharashtra, especially with local elections coming up.
