The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday rejected a plea by Elon Musk’s platform X challenging the authority of the Indian government. The court emphasised the necessity of regulating social media platforms, stating that unchecked speech in the name of freedom can lead to lawlessness.

The court was hearing pleas by X (formerly Twitter) challenging the Indian government’s ‘Sahyog’ portal, which is used for issuing content-blocking orders to intermediaries. The ongoing protest by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) turned violent on Wednesday as demonstrators clashed with the police in the city, setting fire to the BJP’s office, alleging the Union government’s and the administration’s failure to acknowledge their demands.

According to the details, the LAB youth wing had given a call for a protest and shutdown after two of the 15 people, who were on a 35-day hunger strike since September 10, were shifted to a hospital after their condition deteriorated on Tuesday evening. READ MORE

At least a dozen people, including women and children, were injured on Tuesday in a bombing attack targeting the Jaffar Express in Balochistan’s Mastung district, the second such blast in the area within 10 hours.
