The incident that claimed over 40 lives and injured several has left the nation shocked. Several injured victims are still admitted to hospital undergoing treatment.

A political rally led by actor-turned politician TVK Vikay turned tragic on Saturday evening when a stampede broke out, claiming 41 lives and leaving several injured. In the aftermath of the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
Nadda has also formed a special NDA delegation to visit Karur and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The delegation will meet with the affected families, assess the situation on the ground, and submit a detailed report at the earliest.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday also paid a visit to the injured victims admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

Vijay’s TVK Seeks CBI Probe
Meanwhile, days after the incident, the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has urged the Madras High Court to hand over the investigation of the Karur tragedy to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In its plea, the TVK demanded an immediate transfer of the probe to the CBI for an impartial investigation, along with the seizure of the CCTV footage around the rally venue.
