A married man in Karnataka’s Tumakuru was saved in time after he attempted suicide during a Facebook live, NDTV reported. In the video, the man, identified as Salman Pasha, alleged harassment by his wife and her relatives.

According to the report, Salman got married to Syed Nikhath Firdose four years ago. Two years into their marriage, Salman travelled to Kuwait for work, while her wife was pregnant with their second child.

Following his departure, Salman’s wife reportedly moved to her maternal home, thus triggering disputes between the couple.

Salman attempted suicide after he had returned to India, and in the video, he accused his wife, her family, and one of her relatives of mental harassment and pressuring him for money.

He also alleged that his wife had an illicit relationship with the relative, who denied him access to his two children, even after he returned from abroad.

Salman accused the women’s police station of taking sides with his wife’s family and alleged that he had earlier been jailed in a false case filed against him, the report claimed.

As Salman concluded his allegations and attempted suicide, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was currently undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, Salman’s wife denied all charges, calling them false and fabricated, as per the report.

“Earlier too, he had created drama by pretending to drink soap water, and he has threatened to pour acid on me at my workplace. I had already filed a complaint about his threats. Now he is only trying to create drama to gain sympathy,” the report quoted her as saying.

Meanwhile, Salman’s family has lodged a complaint and has sought a fair investigation into the incident.

Further investigations into the case were underway.

In a separate incident, senior Haryana police officer Y Puran Kumar allegedly shot himself dead at his Chandigarh home on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old 2001 batch officer, known for his interventions in matters related to the rights of officers and seniority and other issues, had recently been posted as inspector general, Police Training Centre (PTC), in Sunaria, Rohtak.

His wife, Amneet P Kumar, an IAS officer and commissioner and secretary of the Department of Foreign Cooperation, Haryana government, is in Japan as part of a delegation led by Chief Minister Nayab Saini.
