Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the state’s longest flyover, featuring a single-span cable-stayed bridge in Jabalpur on Saturday.
Officials said the 7-km-long flyover will reduce travel time between Madan Mahal and Damoh Naka from the current 40–45 minutes to just 6–7 minutes. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore, the project is being hailed as a milestone in modern urban traffic management and development.

A key feature of the flyover is a 192-metre single-span cable-stayed bridge built over a railway line. The corridor also includes three bow-string bridges — two at Ranital and one at Baldeobagh — each 70 metres long and constructed entirely of steel.
Authorities said 50,000 saplings have been planted beneath the flyover to enhance greenery and curb pollution. The space has also been developed with amenities including a basketball court, an open gym, and a children’s park.
The flyover will boost trade and commercial activities, ease daily commuting for residents, and serve as a model of urban traffic management for other cities across the country, the release read.
This project brings a confluence of modernity between the rich cultural and historical heritage of Jabalpur. It will pave a way for a metropolitan outlook of the city and ensure better mobility for local citizens and tourists, it added.
Ten directional signboards have been installed to ease travel, they said. Gadkari had laid the foundation stone for the flyover in 2019. In September 2023, ahead of the state assembly elections, then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated a section of the flyover, stretching from Chhoti Line to Gulati Petrol Pump.
