For most children, mathematics is a nightmare—numbers and equations that send shivers down their spine. But in a small village in Telangana, students in one government primary school are rewriting the story. Here, every single child—from Class 1 to Class 5—scores a perfect 100 out of 100 in Maths.

And the secret? One headmaster’s innovative teaching method that blends learning with fun, games, and challenges.
Meet The Man Behind The Transformation
This remarkable change began when headmaster Samudrala Vamsi Mohanacharya took charge of the government primary school in Rachchapalli village, Dharmaram mandal, Peddapalli district.
When he first arrived seven years ago, the school barely had 10 students. Attendance was irregular, learning levels were poor, and Maths was the most dreaded subject. Private schools in the area were the parents’ first choice, while the government school struggled to survive.
But Vamsi had a vision—he wanted to make government schoolchildren as capable as those in top private institutions. And he decided to start with the subject most children feared: Mathematics.
Learning Through Games
Instead of conventional teaching, Vamsi introduced play-based learning techniques. Classrooms turned into spaces filled with puzzles, memory games, and number challenges.
The logic was simple: children love to play, so why not teach through the games they enjoy? Every game was designed to boost memory power, improve calculation speed, and develop problem-solving skills.
Soon, something extraordinary happened. Children who once feared maths began solving complex problems effortlessly.
The Numbers Tell The Story
From just 10 students, the school strength shot up to 56 students, as word spread about this innovative teaching model. Parents who once sent their children to private schools began enrolling them here after witnessing the results.
In fact, Vamsi even challenged parents, claiming that private school students could not solve problems as quickly as his first graders could. He was right—the children aced every challenge.
Investing In The Future
Vamsi did not wait for government grants. He invested over Rs 1 lakh from his own pocket to develop teaching tools, games, and classroom materials.
Today, every child in the school can solve calculations faster than most high school students. Parents say the children have developed discipline, confidence, and a genuine love for learning.
A Model For Other Schools
What began as one teacher’s dream has now become a model for rural education. The school proves that with creativity, passion, and commitment, even government institutions can deliver results on par with—or better than—private schools.
Vamsi believes this approach not only improves academic performance but also prepares children for life, teaching them teamwork, problem-solving, and logical thinking through play.
Parents’ Happiness Says It All
Earlier, families spent heavily on private schools far from home, believing quality education was not available locally. Today, the same parents proudly send their children to the village government school.
And the best part? Children now cry when school holidays come around—they want to be in class, solving problems and learning through play.
