A 35-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death in Delhi’s Najafgarh after repeated clashes about her activity on social media and interest in creating Instagram reels.
The accused, identified as Aman, an e-rickshaw driver, later tried to take his own life but was rescued, said officials aware of the matter.

Investigators said Aman strongly opposed his wife’s online presence as she often made short videos and referred to herself as a “social media artist,” with nearly 6,000 followers.
“Initial findings suggest Aman frequently objected to her posts and had even assaulted her earlier over the issue,” a senior police officer said.
The couple had been married for more than 10 years and lived in Old Roshanpura with their two children, aged nine and five.
They originally belonged to Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh. Police also revealed that the woman was previously married to Aman’s elder brother, who had died by suicide.
According to police, the altercation escalated in the early hours of Tuesday.
Aman allegedly strangled his wife, then attempted suicide by hanging himself with a scarf and consuming poison.
The scarf broke, and he reportedly ran outside shouting that he had killed his wife. Their landlord, who saw him, called the police around 4:23 am.
When officers arrived, they found the woman dead.
Aman was rushed to Rao Tularam Memorial Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Police have preserved the body for autopsy and filed a murder case. Further investigation is underway.
The killing comes just days after another similar case in Greater Noida, where 28-year-old Nikki Bhati was allegedly burnt alive by her husband, Vipin Bhati, following disputes over dowry and her social media activity.
Nikki and her sister Kanchan co-managed a beauty parlour and promoted it on Instagram and YouTube.
Their joint account, Makeover by Kanchan, had more than 54,000 followers. Nikki’s personal account had over 1,100 followers, while Kanchan’s individual account had around 22,000.
