Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday spoke to actor Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, following the firing incident at their Bareilly residence on September 12.

CM Yogi assured him that the state would ensure foolproof security and that “no compromise” would be made on their safety, sources told CNN-News18.

According to police, two unidentified assailants opened fire around 3:30 am on Friday at their house in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area, discharging at least 8–10 rounds before fleeing.

Investigators recovered foreign-made bullets from the site. Soon after, gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post.

Speaking to reporters, Jagdish Patani, a retired police officer, confirmed the incident and said authorities were making “all possible efforts” to track down those responsible.

“The bullets used were not indigenous… I came to know through social media that Goldy Brar has taken responsibility, but it is not clear yet,” he said.

Following the firing, security at the Patani residence was tightened. Bareilly SSP formed five special teams, including the STF, to catch the assailants.

The incident comes amid controversy surrounding Disha Patani’s sister, Khushboo Patani, who recently criticised spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya for his remarks about unmarried women.

The statement drew heavy backlash online, and speculation linked the firing to her comments.

Jagdish Patani, however, rejected the claims, stating Khushboo’s remarks were “misrepresented” and wrongly associated with another spiritual leader.

“We are Sanatanis and respect saints and sadhus. If someone is misrepresenting her statement, it is a conspiracy to demean us,” he told ANI.

Khushboo later clarified on Instagram that her comments were taken out of context and wrongly connected to Premanand Ji Maharaj.
