Chaos erupted at an event being attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta earlier today in the Gandhi Nagar area of the national capital. Notably, this is the first public event being attended by Gupta after being attacked.

Following the incident, Delhi Police caught two separate individuals for creating a ruckus.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who was in Gandhi Nagar under ‘Z’ category VIP security, attended the inaugural event of Vastrika— an open-market garment exhibition organized by the Gandhi Nagar wholesale market. During the event, she announced local MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely as the new Chairman of the Yamuna Paar Vikas Board.

“He has been in top posts in the Delhi government, but just for the sake of development, without any hidden agendas, joined the BJP. He is like the chief minister of Gandhi Nagar. He took an oath for Delhi’s development. Lovely will be the chairman of the Yamuna Paar Vikas Board,” she said.

At the event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed local MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely and East Delhi MP and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra to prepare a detailed budget proposal for the development of the Gandhi Nagar area.

“I am sanctioning the budget today. You just prepare the file with the budget estimates,” she announced.

Gupta also shared that her government is launching a comprehensive route-mapping initiative for all DTC buses, starting with the Trans-Yamuna region.

“We will fix the routes. Every area will get adequate buses,” she assured the gathering.

This marked Gupta’s first public appearance since she was attacked during a Jan Sunwai programme at her Civil Lines residence on Wednesday.
