The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rains across various parts of the country for the next five days. Continuous downpours are expected in Northeast India, East and Central India, North-Western hilly states, and the Southern Peninsular region.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rains may occur in the northeastern states from September 9 to 11, with heavy rainfall expected in certain areas. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are predicted to experience heavy to very heavy rains between September 12 and 15. Meanwhile, stable weather is anticipated in states such as Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

The IMD has indicated that eastern Madhya Pradesh will likely see rainfall on September 9 and 10, Chhattisgarh from September 9 to 13, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from September 9 to 11. Bihar will receive rains from September 9 to 12. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are set to experience rainfall from September 9 to 14, with very heavy rainfall predicted on September 9 and 10. Odisha will see rainfall from September 10 to 12, with extremely heavy rainfall expected on September 11. Vidarbha is also likely to experience heavy rains between September 11 and 13.

The Situation In North-West India

In North-West India, the IMD forecasts heavy rains in eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 11, 12, and 15, and in the western part on September 12. Rain is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh from September 13, and in Uttarakhand from September 12 to 14.

There is a possibility of strong winds (30-40 km per hour) and thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir (12 to 15 September) and Himachal Pradesh (12 and 13 September). Kutch is anticipated to receive heavy rains on September 9. Heavy rain warnings have been issued for Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada from September 13 to 15, and for Konkan and Goa on September 14 and 15.

Showers Expected In South India

Rain is likely in Tamil Nadu from September 9 and 11, in Kerala-Mahe and South Interior Karnataka from September 9 to 10, Coastal Andhra Pradesh-Yanam from September 9 to 13, Telangana from September 9 to 14, and North Interior Karnataka from September 10 to 15.

A warning has been issued for strong winds at speeds of 30-40 kmph over the next five days in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema.

The IMD has advised residents and local administrations in the affected states to remain vigilant. Heavy rains may increase the risk of landslides in hilly areas and waterlogging in low-lying regions.
