5 Killed, Several Injured After Structure At Raipur Steel Plant Collapses

According to a preliminary investigation, five workers were killed and five others sustained injuries in the incident.

At least five workers were killed and several others were injured after a structure collapsed at a steel plant in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. The incident took place at the plant of Godavari Ispat Ltd in Siltara area on the outskirts of the capital, reported PTI, citing officials.

The officials reached the spot upon receiving the information, and a rescue operation was launched.

“Soon after being alerted about it, a police team was sent to the spot, and a rescue operation was launched. As per preliminary information, five workers were killed and five others sustained injuries,” a senior police official was quoted as saying by PTI.

The officials have shifted the injured workers to the hospital, and a rescue operation is still underway as some more people are feared trapped, according to the official.
