A 25-year-old man with several criminal cases against him was found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia, police said on Wednesday. As per the officials, the deceased man had cases registered against him at Nagara police station.

Ankur Singh Golu, a resident of Veerchandraha village within the Nagara police station limits, was found hanging from a mango tree in an orchard on the western side of the village on Tuesday, according to officials.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rasra) Alok Gupta stated that police arrived at the scene after being alerted and sent the body for post-mortem.

“The deceased had a criminal record at Nagara police station. The reason behind his suspected suicide remains unknown, and an investigation is ongoing,” Gupta said.

In another case, a 20-year-old man was found hanging inside the toilet of Shahabad Police Station, an officer confirmed on Monday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Neeraj Jadaun said that an investigation into the death has been initiated.

Jadaun stated that Ravi Rajput had been detained due to accusations of eloping with a 16-year-old girl.

On Sunday, Rajput reportedly hanged himself in the police station toilet, he added.

Rajput was immediately taken to the Shahabad Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead.

The news of Rajput’s death prompted his family and relatives to rush to the police station.

“The matter is being investigated, and the exact circumstances will be determined after the inquiry,” Jadaun said.
