Volkswagen targets Uzbekistan’s fast-growing auto market, where demand has doubled since 2021 to 461,000 units in 2025.Volkswagen said on Monday it has launched its Volkswagen and Jetta brands in Uzbekistan, marking the first time the German automaker is supplying and managing an export market entirely via its China operations as part of its push into fast-growing regions.
Volkswagen aims to tap into Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing auto market, where vehicle demand more than doubled since 2021 to over 461,000 units in 2025.
By year-end, Volkswagen models will be sold at 13 locations, and the number of dealerships is expected to nearly double by 2028.
At the launch, the model lineup included the Tiguan L Pro, Passat Pro, Teramont Pro and vehicles from the Jetta brand.
The next step will be to supplement sales of vehicle exports with local production
The move forms part of a broader strategy targeting growth markets in the CIS region, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
