Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Friday reported a 9.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY) decline in consolidated net profit to ₹3,447 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), compared to ₹3,792 crore in the year-ago quarter, as higher operating expenses offset strong revenue growth.

The automaker’s consolidated revenue from operations rose 35.9 per cent YoY to ₹52,470 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹38,605 crore a year earlier, while total income increased 34.2 per cent to ₹54,344 crore from ₹40,494 crore.

Total expenses jumped 40.5 per cent YoY to ₹50,000 crore in the quarter under review compared to ₹35,585 crore in the same quarter last year.

Raw material costs accounted for nearly 70 per cent of the increase in total expenses, rising by ₹10,076 crore YoY.

The company’s total sales volume grew 29.3 per cent YoY during the first quarter, driven by broad-based growth across segments. Domestic small car sales rose 34.1 per cent, while SUV sales surged 44.6 per cent and exports increased 28.6 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

Maruti Suzuki said its domestic market share expanded by 2.3 percentage points to 41.2 per cent, supported by the commissioning of its second manufacturing plant at Kharkhoda.

Despite the higher sales volumes, dealer network inventory remained lean at around 13 days at the end of the quarter, the automaker said.

The board approved the first phase of its compressed biogas (CBG) programme, clearing four CBG projects with a capital outlay of ₹561 crore. The company said it will evaluate further expansion of its CBG manufacturing capacity based on the experience and performance of these projects.
