Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has commenced production of passenger vehicles at its newly operational manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra, marking a key milestone in the automaker’s expansion plans in India.

In a regulatory filing, the company said production began on October 1, 2025, at the Talegaon plant located at Plot No. A-16, MIDC Talegaon Industrial Area, Phase-II Expansion, Tehsil Maval, Pune. The facility has an annual installed capacity of 1.7 lakh units, strengthening Hyundai’s manufacturing footprint in the country.

The move follows Hyundai’s earlier announcement in June regarding the acquisition and refurbishment of the Talegaon facility. The plant, originally owned by General Motors, has been upgraded to align with Hyundai’s global production standards and localisation strategy.

With this expansion, Hyundai aims to cater to the growing domestic demand and bolster its export operations. The new facility will play a crucial role in supporting the automaker’s long-term goal of increasing capacity and introducing new models tailored for the Indian market. The new plant is also expected to contribute to job creation and strengthen the state’s manufacturing ecosystem.

The commencement of operations at Talegaon underscores Hyundai’s commitment to deepening its presence in India, one of the fastest-growing automotive markets globally.
