Ford is recalling 1.74 million vehicles in the US as a rearview camera defect may prevent images from displaying, reducing the driver’s view behind the vehicle, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday.
The recall affects certain Ford Bronco and Ford Edge models as the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) may overheat and shut down, preventing the rearview camera image from displaying as intended, the regulator said in a statement.
Separately, the NHTSA said that more vehicles, including Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair, are being recalled as the image on the center display may flip or invert, resulting in an incorrectly displayed rearview image when the vehicle is placed in reverse.
