Italian luxury sports carmaker Ferrari on Sunday unveiled the 849 Testarossa in India, marking the company’s first national reveal event in the country. The launch took place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The unveiling was led by Ferrari Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna and Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera, who presented the car and spoke about the company’s strategy and engineering philosophy behind the new model.

Priced at a starting price of ₹10.37 crore (ex-showroom), the 849 Testarossa is a plug-in hybrid super sports berlinetta positioned at the top of Ferrari’s range, replacing the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. The model combines a re-engineered mid-rear twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors to produce a total output of 1,050 cv.

According to Ferrari, the hybrid powertrain is designed to deliver extreme performance while maintaining ride comfort, usability and interior refinement. The car also integrates motorsport-derived technologies such as an advanced aerodynamic architecture with a twin-tail rear design and active rear spoiler, along with electronic control systems including ABS Evo and the FIVE vehicle dynamics estimator.

Speaking at the event, Vigna highlighted India’s growing importance in Ferrari’s global strategy. He said the country offers strong opportunities due to its young demographic and entrepreneurial energy, which align with Ferrari’s philosophy of innovation and performance.

Ferrari currently supports its presence in India through dealerships in Mumbai and New Delhi and a service facility in Bengaluru. These locations provide customers with sales and after-sales services as the company looks to expand its footprint in the luxury performance car segment.

The company noted that India’s community of Ferrari owners is among the youngest globally, reflecting the country’s emerging base of affluent enthusiasts and entrepreneurs. Ferrari said it expects this community to grow as interest in high-performance and luxury vehicles increases.

In terms of performance, the 849 Testarossa can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds, while its top speed exceeds 330 km/h. The hybrid system also allows an electric-only driving mode with a maximum range of 25 km.
