Citroën India on Tuesday launched the updated ë-C3X electric crossover, introducing a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing model aimed at lowering the upfront cost of electric vehicle ownership.

Under the BaaS model, customers can purchase the vehicle separately from the battery through a dual-loan financing product offered in partnership with banks and financial institutions. The company said the introductory BaaS pricing starts at ₹6.89 lakh, with battery charges of ₹2.26 per km. The standard range starts at ₹10.25 lakh.

Kumar Priyesh, Director Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said: “With the all-new ë-C3X, we are taking a decisive step forward in India’s electric mobility journey. This is not just a product launch, but a meaningful move to make EV ownership more accessible and flexible through our BaaS offering.”

Focus on features and connectivity

The ë-C3X is built on Citroën’s Smart Car Platform and comes with features including LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and folding outside rear-view mirrors, and front and rear skid plates.

Inside, the vehicle gets a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, wireless charging and connected car technology with over 40 remote access features.

Citroën is also offering an optional JBL audio system and front and rear dashcams with predictive safety functions.

The vehicle has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm, shoulder room of 1,375 mm and a boot capacity of 315 litres.

Safety and localisation

The company said the ë-C3X incorporates six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and dashcam-based safety functions including lane departure warning and front vehicle distance alert.

According to Citroën, more than 60 per cent of the vehicle’s structure uses ultra-high-tensile and high-tensile steel.

The company said the model has been developed on an India-focused platform and is aimed at expanding electric mobility adoption in the country.

Citroën said the BaaS scheme assumes vehicle usage of 2,000 km per month and excludes charging costs, road tax, insurance, TCS and other statutory levies.

Bookings for the ë-C3X are now open across Citroën dealerships and on the company’s website.
