Gold Silver Rate Today:Gold and silver prices traded firmly higher on Wednesday, supported by weakness in the US dollar and softer crude oil prices, with silver outperforming the yellow metal in both domestic and global markets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for June 5 delivery opened at Rs 1,52,000 per 10 grams, registering a gain of Rs 2,247 or 1.5 per cent over the previous close of Rs 1,49,753.
At around 11:30 am, gold was trading at Rs 1,52,419, up Rs 2,666 or 1.78 per cent. During the session, the precious metal touched an intraday high of Rs 1,52,450, while the day’s low stood at Rs 1,51,653, which was still higher by Rs 1,900 or 1.26 per cent from the previous close.
Silver prices also witnessed a strong rally. MCX silver futures for July 3 delivery opened at Rs 2,49,316 per kg, up Rs 5,000 or 2.04 per cent. The contract later climbed further to Rs 2,51,699 per kg, gaining Rs 7,383 or 3.02 per cent.
In international markets, bullion prices also remained upbeat. COMEX gold advanced 1.92 per cent to $4,656 per ounce, while silver rose 3.45 per cent to $76.12 per ounce.
Analysts said gold prices rebounded after recovering from a one-month low, aided by easing concerns surrounding US-Iran tensions and relative stability in crude oil prices. However, expectations of a prolonged high-interest-rate environment and elevated crude prices continue to limit sharper gains in bullion.
The dollar index slipped 0.34 per cent to 97.97, supporting precious metal prices. A weaker dollar typically makes gold and silver more attractive for holders of other currencies.
Meanwhile, international crude oil prices remained under pressure. Brent crude declined 2.30 per cent to $107.33 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude fell 3 per cent to $99.12 per barrel on Tuesday.
Separately, silver prices also gained support from fresh buying interest in futures trade. According to PTI, silver futures for July delivery on Tuesday rose Rs 225, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 2,44,120 per kg on the MCX amid the ongoing West Asia crisis. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders contributed to the rise in silver prices.
