Gold Silver Rate Today:Gold and silver prices edged lower on Tuesday as global uncertainty and cautious investor sentiment weighed on bullion.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for June 5 delivery were trading at Rs 1,53,415, down 0.34 per cent or Rs 528. The yellow metal was also seen at Rs 1,53,585 per 10 grams, lower by Rs 358 or 0.23 per cent around 11:55 am, after touching an intraday high of Rs 1,53,992.

Silver prices also declined during the session. MCX May futures were down about 0.92 per cent, or Rs 2,335, at Rs 2,50,210 per kg. The metal had earlier hit an intraday high of Rs 2,51,743 and was last trading at Rs 2,50,903, down Rs 1,642 or 0.65 per cent.

The weakness in domestic markets mirrored global trends. On COMEX, gold slipped 0.43 per cent to $4,807 per ounce, while silver fell 1.44 per cent to $78.885 per ounce.

A commodity market expert said lingering uncertainty around the US-Iran ceasefire and upcoming macroeconomic events has kept investors cautious, leading to a mild pullback in bullion prices.

Markets remain on edge over whether fresh negotiations will take place before the ceasefire expires later this week, with mixed signals from both sides adding to volatility. While US President Donald Trump said a delegation led by Vice President JD Vance would head to Pakistan for talks, Iranian officials indicated discussions may not proceed as long as the US naval blockade continues. However, reports suggest Tehran could still engage through regional intermediaries.

Geopolitical tensions have also been highlighted by recent developments, including the US capture of an Iran-flagged vessel.

The expert added that attention has also shifted to domestic US developments, particularly the Senate confirmation hearing of Federal Reserve Chair nominee Kevin Warsh. His relatively hawkish stance and preference for a leaner balance sheet have weighed on bullion sentiment.

With uncertainty persisting on both geopolitical and policy fronts, gold and silver remain under pressure in the near term.

Meanwhile, oil prices also declined, adding to the cautious mood. Brent crude futures fell 1.71 per cent to $93.84 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was down 2 per cent at $85.5.
