'India in full-fledged Reform Express phase': PM Modi says changes are rapid, citizen-centric; flags IndiGo chaos

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the country has entered a full-fledged “Reform Express” phase, where changes are happening rapidly and with a clear intent.Addressing the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that the government’s reforms are citizen-first, not merely economic or revenue-driven.He said the focus is on improving both the “Ease of Life” and the “Ease of Doing Business”, ensuring that day-to-day hurdles faced by ordinary people are removed.PM Modi urged MPs to proactively bring real issues from the ground to the government’s attention, saying this would help reforms reach every household and make governance more responsive. The Prime Minister also underlined the need to reduce bureaucratic burdens, adding that he wants to end the “culture of 30–40-page forms and unnecessary paperwork”. He said India must move toward providing services at citizens’ doorsteps and stop repeatedly asking for the same documents and data.Recalling how the government introduced self-certification, PM Modi said it was based on trusting citizens, and that this trust has worked successfully for 10 years without misuse.Earlier in the meeting, NDA leaders felicitated PM Modi at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building. Senior NDA leaders including Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, JDU MP Sanjay Jha, NCP MP Praful Patel, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and L Murugan were present.Union parliamentary and minority affairs minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister also expressed concern over the ongoing chaos caused by IndiGo’s large-scale flight cancellations across major airports.”During the NDA parliamentary meeting, the PM told NDA MPs that people should not be troubled, face inconvenience. Rules and laws are good but in order to correct the system it is not right to harass people,” he said.
