‘Dhurandhar’ grosses Rs 140 crore at worldwide box office

‘Dhurandhar’, the Aditya Dhar directorial, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, completed its first week at the box office and going by early estimates, came out with flying colours. The film that marked the return of director Dhar after 6 years, scored an explosive weekend at both the domestic and international box offices. The film, according to Sacnilk, exceeded all trade expectations to deliver one of the most impressive opening weekends of the year.

As per early estimates, ‘Dhurandhar’ earned Rs 99.50 crore net by the end of its debut weekend at the Indian box office. The film seemingly missed the Rs 100 crore net marker by a whisker. However, the film’s gross collections have comfortably crossed the milestone, earning a total collection of Rs 119 crore. The film which also delivered a career-best worldwide launch for the leading man, Ranveer, started out slow at the box office, earning just around Rs 28 crore on its opening day. However, it was reportedly the good reviews and great word-of-mouth that propelled growth on Saturday, with the film earning an estimated Rs 32 crore net.The film recorded its highest earnings on Day 3, scoring an estimated Rs 39.5 crore net.

Boost in footfalls

‘Dhurandhar’ had an overall 53.47% Hindi occupancy on Sunday, a considerable growth as compared to Friday and Saturday. This time around, the film saw its highest footfalls coming in for afternoon shows and evening shows, recording an impressive 70.07%.In India, the film demonstrated extraordinary growth, minting Rs 119 crore gross, driven by packed shows in major metros and strong turnout in Tier-2 and Tier-3 circuits. The domestic performance is expected to maintain momentum through the week.

International box office

Overseas as well, the performance has been solid. The film has collected an estimated 30+ crore gross, with North America leading the charge with an estimated $2 million debut. This puts the film on the 9th spot of the highest-earning films at the US box office. It stands just behind ‘Hamnet’, which earned an estimated $2.3 million. The film beat out the sci-fi action film ‘Predator: Badlands’, which earned an estimated $1.9 million at the US box office. With the film raking in an estimated Rs 21 crore from international markets, the total worldwide box office numbers currently stand at an estimated Rs 140 crore.

Ranveer Singh’s highest earning films

As far as the net collections are concernd, ‘Dhurandhar’ has already made its way to the no. 8 spot on the list of Ranveer’s highest-earning films of all time. The film, in three days, beat out the lifetime collections of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ which earned Rs 76.81 crore and ‘Gunday’, which completed its box office run with an estimated collection of Rs 78.61 crore. The opening also makes this the biggest debut of Ranveer Singh’s career, surpassing the numbers of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali historical drama ‘Padmaavat’ and the Rohit Shetty cop action film ‘Simmba’. Currently, both films occupy the top 2 spots on the list of Ranveer’s highest-grossing films of all time.
