Rakesh Bedi shares update on ‘Dhurandhar 2’

Rakesh Bedi shares update on ‘Dhurandhar 2’; reveals Ranveer Singh starrer is ready: ‘It’ll be out in a month or two’

Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ releases tomorrow. Rakesh Bedi revealed a sequel, ‘Dhurandhar 2’, is already in production. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller cleared CBFC with an ‘A’ certificate and runs 3 hours 34 minutes. The film also stars Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan.

Ranveer Singh is gearing up for the release of his next big film, ‘Dhurandhar’, which arrives in cinemas tomorrow. Ahead of the much-awaited premiere, Rakesh Bedi dropped an exciting update, the story doesn’t end here. Recently, in an interview, he confirmed that a sequel, ‘Dhurandhar 2’, is already in the works and that it will feature him in a prominent role. According to Bedi, the second chapter could hit screens within the next few months.

Aditya Dhar fulfils his promise

In ‘Dhurandhar’, Rakesh steps into the role of a politician, a part that came his way thanks to director Aditya Dhar’s admiration for his work in ‘URI: The Surgical Strike’. Dhar had once expressed a desire to collaborate with Bedi again, though the veteran actor hadn’t taken the remark too seriously at first. However, when Dhurandhar went on floors in January 2024, Dhar fulfilled his promise by offering him this crucial role.

Rakesh Bedi opens up about his character

Talking about his experience and character, Bedi told ITV Blink, “I am eagerly waiting for this film. Last year, in January, when the film was starting, Aditya offered me this role in Dhurandhar. In this film, I am playing a very different role, and that will be revealed in the second part. In Dhurandhar Part 1, I will be seen a little less, but I will be seen more in the second part. The second instalment is around the corner, it is ready and will be released in a month or two. My character is very endearing and menacing. It is inspired by a real-life politician from Pakistan; my look also resembles him.”

Film clears CBFC and creates history

Despite stirring conversations for both its scale and the controversy surrounding it, ‘Dhurandhar’ continues to command strong attention ahead of release. The high-octane spy thriller has successfully cleared the CBFC hurdle, earning an ‘A’ certificate with a lengthy runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes, making it the longest Bollywood film to hit the screens in nearly two decades. Offering an update on the sequel, Bedi revealed, “Part 2 has been shot, they are just working on its post-production, it will be released in a couple of months at the most.”

Addressing the legal controversy

Controversy struck ‘Dhurandhar’ last month when the film’s makers were accused of drawing its plot from the life of the late Major Mohit Sharma, a highly respected Army officer. Responding to the allegations, director Aditya Dhar clarified that ‘Dhurandhar’ bears no relation to the officer’s story. Weighing in on the matter, Rakesh Bedi remarked, “Every story comes from an inspiration. It’s a story about a spy who went from one country to another country. I salute Mohit Sharma for what he did. Dhurandhar may be inspired by it, but it’s not based on it. And I don’t have the authority to say much since I don’t know the entire case.”

Star-studded cast and release details

Hitting theatres on December 5, ‘Dhurandhar’ is directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by B62 Productions and Jio Studios. The action-packed film features Ranveer Singh and Rakesh Bedi in central roles, while newcomer Sara Arjun makes her big-screen debut. Other actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan will also appear in significant roles. Go to Source
