Ilhan Omar says Trump’s obsession with her is ‘creepy’: ‘I will be here probably longer than Trump’

Ilhan Omar says Trump's obsession with her is 'creepy': 'I will be here probably longer than Trump'

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar addressed the rumors of her being deported to Somalia amid President Donald Trump’s relentless attack on her and said she is not going anywhere. She said Donald Trump’s obsession with her is creepy. “I hope he gets the help he desperately needs,” Ilhan Omar said, adding that she would be here probably longer than Trump. As the Trump administration cracked down on Somalians living in Minnesota, Trump mentioned Ilhan Omar several times and the rumor that ‘she married her brother to remain in the country’ as he asserted that Ilhan Omar would be thrown out of the US. Trump’s latest mention of Somalis came during Tuesday’s cabinet meeting when he said Somali immigrants and Ilhan Omar are garbage. “We’re going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. She’s garbage. Her friends are garbage,” the US president said.“These aren’t people that work. These aren’t people that say, ‘Let’s go, come on. Let’s make this place great.’ These are people that do nothing but complain. They complain, and from where they came from, they got nothing.” Trump said he does not know Omar personally but watched her complain about the US for years. “I think she’s an incompetent person. She’s a real terrible person,” he said.Ilhan Omar is a naturalized US citizen who came to the US in 1995. She became a US citizen in 2000 when she was 17 years old. There is no evidence that Omar married her brother and the rumors started from some blogs that claimed her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is her biological brother.

Ilhan Omar and her three husbands

According to records, Ilhan Omar has been married to Tim Mynett, a political consultant, since 2020. Her first husband is Ahmed Hisri who is also the father of all their three children. Ilhan Omar and Hisri’s relationship began in 2002, they had two children, and they ended their relationship in 2009 but it was not legal. They got legally married in 2018 and divorced in 2019. In 2011, they reconciled and had a third child together. In 2009, Omar reportedly married Elmi, a UK citizen, in a legal civil ceremony. This Elmi is claimed to be her brother. In 2017, their marriage legally ended.
