‘Jailer 2' gets bigger: Vinayakan confirms comeback, Mohanlal jets off to join Rajinikanth’s sequel shoot

Vinayakan is confirmed for ‘Jailer 2’, reprising his role as Narasimhan despite his character’s demise in the first film. Mohanlal has also joined the shoot for the Rajinikanth starrer, directed by Nelson. Meanwhile, Vinayakan’s upcoming Malayalam film ‘Kalamkaval’ sees him as the protagonist with Mammootty playing the antagonist.

Actor Vinayakan has officially confirmed that he will be part of ‘Jailer 2’, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster starring Rajinikanth.During the promotions of his upcoming Malayalam film Kalamkaval, the actor revealed to Reporter TV that he is indeed returning to the franchise although his character, Narasimhan, was killed in the climax of Jailer. The actor has chosen to stay silent on how the makers plan to revive or reinterpret his character this time. Vinayakan also said that his character in ‘Jailer’ was the best comedy character he has played and loved.

Mohanlal joins shoot

As production progresses, Mohanlal was recently spotted flying to join the shoot of Jailer 2. A selfie shared by designer Jishad Shamsudheen from their flight confirmed that the Malayalam superstar is heading to reprise his role as Mathew. Interestingly, Mohanlal boarded the shoot immediately after wrapping ‘Drishyam 3’.Mohanlal was also recently spotted in the sets of his daughter Vismaya’s debut film ‘Thudakkam’ directed by Jude Anthany Joseph.Directed by Nelson, ‘Jailer 2’ will once again feature Rajinikanth as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Ramya Krishnan, who plays his wife. Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar are expected to return as well. With Vinayakan confirming his return, there are chances that the sequel may feature some flashback portions or connection to some events in the first part.

Mammootty reveals surprising role in ‘Kalamkaval’

Meanwhile, ‘Kalamkaval’, the project Vinayakan is currently promoting, has also been making headlines. At its pre-release event, Mammootty confirmed that Vinayakan plays the film’s protagonist, while he himself takes on the antagonist’s role. The megastar said, “The hero of this film is Vinayakan, and I am also the hero… but the villain.” He also admitted that his character may be difficult for audiences to immediately like, hinting at a complex and intense performance.
