Sidharth Malhotra marked his debut as an actor with ‘Student Of The Year’ in the year 2012. However, the Karan Johar-directed movie was not supposed to be his launch film. The actor recently shared that his acting debut would have been different. Let’s learn more about it.

Sidharth Malhotra reveals ‘SOTY’ was not the first film he signed

According to a News18 report, Sidharth Malhotra had signed a different movie before Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’. As per the report, the actor shared that he was just 21-22 when he came to Mumbai believing that he had bagged his first Hindi movie. The actor shared, “I thought my life was about to begin… and then that film never took off. I was back to ground zero and found myself filled with self-doubt, questioning whether I stay here or go back.”Sidharth expressed that, in a moment, he “was in a new city with no plan.” The actor added that the maximum city can be overwhelming for anyone coming from outside. The ‘Ek Villain’ actor added that it took some time for him to find his footing. The actor stated that he was lucky to have friends who shared their small spaces with him. Sid went on to reveal, “For a while, I even lived inside the editing room of the production house that had signed me.” Sidharth Malhotra said that when the movie fell apart, he felt like the “ground had shifted.” According to him, a person feels lost when the very reason for moving to cities doesn’t work out.He said, “That’s when I decided to start from scratch; I began working as an assistant director, learning on set, understanding the craft from behind the camera, and trying to find my way back to acting.”

Sidharth Malhotra’s next project

The actor will next feature in the film titled ‘Vvan’, co-starring Tamannaah Bhatia. Directed by Arunabh Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra, the movie will release in May next year.
