‘120 Bahadur’ declared tax-free in Delhi; CM Rekha Gupta calls it 'a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers'

The war drama ‘120 Bahadur’ which portrays the historic courage of Charlie Company of the Kumaon Regiment, received a major recognition on Thursday after the Delhi government announced the film will be tax-free across the state.

Confirming the decision, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took to X to highlight the significance of the tribute: “#120Bahadur, a historical war film, pays tribute to the extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought valiantly in the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The film highlights the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, whose actions and sacrifice remain a defining symbol of courage in India’s military history. As a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers, the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov. Congratulations to the creators of the film!”

The tax-free move is expected to boost audience turnout and encourage more families and students to witness the iconic battle dramatized on screen.

Box office growth steady

The box office trend has shown a mild dip mid-week. According to the Sacnilk website, on Wednesday (Day 6), 120 Bahadur collected Rs 1 crore, down from Rs 1.50 crore on Tuesday. This came after Monday’s jump to Rs 1.4 crore. Currently, the film has earned an estimated Rs 14 crore net in India. The day-wise collections stand at: Rs 2.25 crore on Friday, Rs 3.85 crore on Saturday, Rs 4 crore on Sunday, followed by Rs 1.4 crore, Rs 1.50 crore and Rs 1 crore from Monday to Wednesday.’120 Bahadur’ stir patriotic emotions, especially for its depiction of the sacrifice of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and his troops during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The war drama features Farhan Akhtar alongside Raashi Khanna, Vivan Bhatena and Ankit Siwach.
