Jonathan Anderson to stage debut Dior cruise show in LA on May 13

Jonathan Anderson has chosen Los Angeles to be the venue of his first ever cruise show for the house of Dior. The show will take place in LA on May 13, the house confirmed on Monday to FashionNetwork.com. So far, however, the exact location has yet to be revealed.

News of the decision comes just after Dior opened a major new flagship on Rodeo Drive, the key luxury shopping thoroughfare in California. It was designed by American architect Peter Marino, who is the leading creator of prestige boutiques for LVMH, the giant French luxury group that owns Dior.

Dior’s show will be staged one week before the next show by Louis Vuitton– another LVMH brand– which is due to stage its next cruise show in New York on May 20. New York is also the location of the upcoming Métiers d’Art show by Chanel on December 2. Meaning the triumvirate of France’s three largest runway brands are heading to the US for their next global shows, suggesting a renewed faith by French executives in the American market and in consumers of quality products.

Anderson’s predecessor Maria Grazia Chiuri also chose California for her debut cruise show back in 2017. Staging a western-inspired collection in a ranch style setting in Calabasas, a hilly district north of LA.

Northern Irish designer Anderson’s predecessor in Dior menswear, Kim Jones, staged a resort collection in Venice Beach in 2023. Like many of Jones’ collections, it featured a link-up with another talent, in this case Eli Russell Linnetz.

As noted, Anderson was appointed creative director of Dior in March 2025, overseeing womenswear, menswear, and couture and becoming the first designer since founder Christian Dior to design all three divisions.
