Shubman Gill Unable To Return In Time
Shubman Gill was appointed as Rohit Sharma’s replacement in the captaincy role ahead of the India vs Australia ODI series.
However, he won’t be leading the Men in Blue in these 50-over matches due to injury. Gill suffered neck spasms during the first Test match against South Africa while batting and had to be hospitalized.
Although he has been discharged, the player has been out of action since then, earlier ruled out of the second Test, and now the South Africa ODI series.
Hardik Pandya, who got injured during the Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka has also missed out on this series.
On the other hand, Tilak Varma has been called up, alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, who could be seen opening the batting with Rohit Sharma up top.
The series kicks off later this month, just a few days after the second IND vs SA Test match concludes in Guwahati.
