TVK resumes poll campaign: Vijay challenges SIR rollout in SC; targets DMK for 'loot, dynasty politics' in Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhgam chief Vijay on Sunday resumed its poll campaign in election-bound state on Tamil Nadu after a break of nearly two months following the tragic stampede. The newly-formed party challenged the challenged the Election Commission over its decision to rollout Special Intensive Revision (SIR).It further targeted the MK Stalin government in the state for “loot and dynasty politics”, PTI reported. He said the TVK doesn’t make “empty promises” like the DMK on scrapping NEET, and instead was pushing to move education from the concurrent list to the state list, the news agency cited the actor-politician saying.”Kancheepuram is the land of former Chief Minister Annadurai. Even former CM MGR placed Annadurai’s symbol on his party flag as a mark of respect for his guidance. The DMK holds a personal vendetta against our TVK party. We don’t carry such grudges, but we will question them because they have deceived the very people who trusted and voted for them. Their actions are nothing but drama. We will not remain silent about it. We have a natural connection with Kanchipuram, as our first public outreach campaign began in Parandur, right here in this district,” ANI quoted him saying.Vijay criticised DMK for raising doubts about TVK’s ideology, insisting his party rests on strong ideological foundations rooted in equality and has, among other demands, called for a caste census. This was Vijay’s first address to party workers and the public since the September 27 Karur stampede, effectively restarting his campaign for next year’s state election. He spoke to party cadres, supporters and local residents at an indoor hall of an educational institution in Sunguvarchattiram, Kanchipuram district.
