Oman is set to open a sweeping portfolio of development projects worth roughly RO1.40–1.41 billion, reflecting the country’s continued push for stronger infrastructure, enhanced public services, and long-term economic and food security. Coordinated across multiple government entities, the programme brings major industrial ventures, new water and road networks, and upgraded healthcare facilities into operation as part of National Day celebrations.

Major industrial and economic developments

A prominent feature of the new programme is a collection of high-value commercial and industrial projects spread across Sohar, Khazaen, and other key economic hubs.Flagship industrial investments include:

  • Polysilicon project in Sohar Free Zone – RO615 million.
A large-scale industrial milestone and one of the most significant projects in the slate.
  • Sugar refinery at Sohar Port – RO141.5 million.
  • Al Ghaith Chemical Industries plant – RO25 million.
  • Industrial bakery in Khazaen Economic City (South Al Batinah) – RO25 million.

Supporting Oman’s food security agenda, two projects in Khazaen add further capacity:

  • Animal and fish feed production plant – RO36 million.
  • Industrial bakery project (also RO25 million, listed above).

In the fisheries sector, the programme features:

  • Development of Dibba fishing port – RO39 million.

Across several governorates, OQ Group will inaugurate a series of development initiatives:

  • Total value – RO38.5 million.

Altogether, these projects reinforce the government’s strategy to widen industrial capabilities and strengthen national economic resilience.

Road and transport infrastructure

Road development remains a core element of Oman’s broader infrastructure efforts. Two major road works in Al Wusta Governorate are included:

  • Dualisation of the Southern National Highway – RO23.5 million.
  • National Highway 23 toward Ras Markaz (also referred to as Ras Madrakah) – RO59.3 million.

These upgrades aim to improve transport efficiency, safety, and connectivity across a region that plays an increasingly important role in Oman’s logistical and economic landscape.

Large scale water network enhancements

Water security is a central national priority, and the upcoming openings reflect the largest cluster of water-related investments in the programme. Under Nama Water Services, projects totaling RO408 million will come online across several governorates.Key components include:

  • Phase II enhancement of Al Dakhiliyah water transmission line – RO128.1 million.
  • Transmission upgrades in North and South Al Batinah – RO86 million.
  • Phase I establishment of new water networks in North Al Sharqiyah – RO65.5 million.
  • Enhanced water transmission lines in South and North Al Sharqiyah – RO128.4 million.

These initiatives are designed to:

  • Improve overall transmission efficiency
  • Strengthen service quality
  • Expand network coverage across diverse regions

Together, they form one of the largest coordinated water service upgrade programmes undertaken in recent years.

Expanded healthcare and community services

A trio of major medical facilities is being inaugurated to strengthen national healthcare capacity and widen the availability of specialised services.Healthcare projects include:

  • Al Suwaiq Referral Hospital (North Al Batinah) – RO78.5 million.
Built to enhance specialised treatment and ease regional hospital load.
  • Central Public Health Laboratory – RO30 million.
Equipped to support advanced diagnostic functions and national public health monitoring.
  • Khasab Referral Hospital (Musandam Governorate) – RO65.9 million.

These facilities are intended to reinforce diagnostic capabilities, improve patient care standards, and extend access to high-quality medical services across critical regions.

Coordinated national rollout

The General Secretariat for National Celebrations confirmed that all projects have been scheduled and coordinated with the relevant governmental bodies to ensure full operational readiness. The initiative aligns with the developmental direction set under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, capturing the milestone achievements being introduced as part of the 55th National Day events. The combined programme—spanning infrastructure, water systems, healthcare, economic industries, fisheries, and food security—marks a comprehensive national investment valued at approximately RO1.40–1.41 billion. It reflects Oman’s strategic focus on sustainable growth, improved public services, and diversified economic foundations. Go to Source
