MARGAO: Two women’s organisations in Goa have voiced strong opposition to a proposed ‘Tales of Kamasutra & Christmas Celebration’ event on December 25-28 and called on authorities to investigate and block the festival.Goa Women’s Forum (GWF) and Bailancho Ekvott have lodged separate complaints against the event, which they claimed would damage state’s reputation as a familyfriendly tourist destination and promote sex tourism. In a letter to tourism director Kedar Naik, GWF said the event was being promoted by an organisation identifying itself as ‘Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation’ and allegedly charging participants Rs 25,000 for accommodation and food. “We seek your immediate intervention by filing an FIR, launching a full-fledged investigation to determine the antecedents of this ‘Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation’ and identifying the venue for this proposed programme.”Bailancho Ekvott said the event was an abuse of religious freedom and assault on Catholic tradition. “To take the focus away from worship, prayers, this sort of tantrism is uncalled for.” It also said the festival was “a culture crisis for Goan Catholics” and called it a blow to Catholicism in Goa.
