Here’s why Alia Bhatt is missing in ‘Dining With The Kapoors’

Why Alia Bhatt is missing in ‘Dining With The Kapoors’? Armaan Jain finally reveals the reason: ‘I might sound filmy but…’

The entire Kapoor family is coming together for ‘Dining With The Kapoors’. Fans are already buzzing with excitement as the trailer shows generations of Bollywood royalty gathering around one table for a warm, laughter-filled lunch. With the family celebrating Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, the Netflix special feels grand, emotional and full of classic Kapoor charm. But even with so many famous faces present, viewers quickly noticed one missing seat, and that sparked a wave of curiosity online.

Who are featured in ‘Dining With The Kapoors’?

The special features Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Rima Jain, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Armaan Jain, Aadar Jain and Navya Naveli Nanda enjoying a cosy family meal. Yet the absence of Alia Bhatt, one of the biggest stars of the Kapoor clan, stood out almost instantly.

Fans notice Alia Bhatt’s missing presence

The minute the trailer dropped, fans began asking the same question across social media, why wasn’t Alia part of such an important family gathering? With almost everyone else present, her empty seat became the biggest talking point.

Armaan Jain shares reason behind Alia Bhatt’s absence

In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Armaan finally cleared the air. He explained that Alia simply had work commitments she could not reschedule. He said, “She had prior commitments to shoot. I might sound filmy, but like Raj Kapoor said, ‘work is worship.’”

Director highlights the Kapoor family’s work dedication

Director Smriti Mundhra also supported Armaan’s statement and praised the Kapoor family for their strong work ethic. She explained that having one or two members missing due to work is normal for a family filled with actors and filmmakers. She said, “That is the one thing about this family. They are all workaholics and they all love what they do. There is always an understanding that everyone makes an attempt to gather and prioritise as much as possible, but inevitably there’s one or two people who can’t make it because of work, and that’s always allowed.”

Armaan Jain mentions frequent scheduling clashes

Armaan also shared that clashes like this happen often within the family. With everyone juggling shoots, events and film work, someone usually ends up missing a festive gathering. He said, “Every function it happens, literally Christmas get-togethers, Diwali get-togethers. It happens.”Even though she couldn’t make it to the shoot, Alia still showed her love by promoting the show on her Instagram Stories.
