The Odia music industry is mourning the loss of the talented artist Humane Sagar. For the unversed, Sagar is one of the music industry’s most loved voices. Tragically, Sagar’s life ended prematurely on November 17, 2025, at age 34, due to multi-organ dysfunction syndrome at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. A remarkable beginning
Humane Sagar was born on 25 November 1990. He grew up surrounded by music. His father and mother were singers, and his grandfather composed private albums. Although he excelled academically and even cracked the medical entrance exam, beginning an MBBS degree, Sagar soon realised his true passion was music. After completing his first year, he made the bold decision to drop out and pursue singing full-time.His life changed in 2012 when he competed in and won ‘Voice of Odisha’ Season 2 on Tarang TV. His deep, soulful voice captivated judges and viewers and marked the arrival of a star. Among his fellow contestants was Shriya Mishra, whom he later married in 2017. The couple went on to welcome a daughter.
A meteoric rise in Ollywood
Sagar’s playback debut came with ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu’ (2015), singing its title track composed by Abhijit Majumdar. The song became an instant hit which took him to mainstream success. Over the years, he recorded hundreds of Odia movie songs and devotional tracks, delivering memorable hits in films such as ‘Baby’, ‘Abhaya’ and ‘Agastya’.He also left his mark on independent music. He created popular albums like ‘Tuma Otha Tale’, ‘Niswasa’, ‘Bekhudee’, and ‘Chehera;. His Hindi album ‘Mera Yeh Jahan’ went on to expand his fan base beyond Odisha.
A life of stardom and struggles
Sadly, Sagar’s had faced some personal issues. In 2023, his wife accused him of domestic violence, dowry demands and religious pressure. This led to legal battles and public scrutiny which affected his image.
