A new controversy has reignited discussions in the Twitch and streaming community, this time involving banned streamer Nina Lin and creator Wendy Ortiz. During a recent livestream, Nina Lin said she was “not sure if she’ll even be invited” to this year’s Streamer Awards following the viral sexual assault scandal that led to her Twitch suspension. Her remarks came just weeks after Lin and fellow streamer Zoe Spencer were banned from Twitch after a video surfaced showing their alleged misconduct toward FaZe Silky’s assistant, Said. The footage, which circulated on X (formerly Twitter) on October 23, 2025, sparked outrage across the gaming world and prompted renewed debate about accountability and double standards on streaming platforms.

Nina Lin opens up about Streamer Awards uncertainty during live chat with Wendy Ortiz

On November 12, 2025, Nina Lin appeared on a live broadcast alongside Wendy Ortiz and two other creators. While discussing upcoming industry events, Lin candidly said, “I don’t think I’m even going this year. With the whole shit going on, they’re definitely not gonna let me go.” Ortiz appeared surprised, asking, “What? What does that mean?” before quickly jumping to her friend’s defense. Ortiz pointed out the hypocrisy within the community, saying, “Do you not know how many guys and streamers say homophobic shit, they’ve done so much shit, and they’re still gonna go?”Another streamer on the call then added, “They’re probably just bashing you more because you’re a girl.” Lin agreed, saying, “They do. You know what, it’s ’cause they don’t like outspoken girls.” Ortiz ended the exchange by telling Lin, “No, you actually need to go.”The clip was later shared across X, gaining millions of views within hours. The conversation struck a nerve online, reigniting criticism toward both creators. After the clip went viral, reactions poured in from fans, critics, and fellow streamers. Many accused Wendy Ortiz of deflecting from the seriousness of the situation by comparing sexual assault allegations to homophobic remarks. One user wrote, “Male sexual assault is equal to homophobia in her eyes? Wow.” Another user posted, “Ever since the first situation with Emiru they all just love to play victim.”Meanwhile, the viral exchange between Lin and Ortiz has once again placed the spotlight on how the streaming industry handles misconduct, and who still gets invited to its biggest nights.
