Siddique’s widow for SIT probe, High Court seeks state’s reply

Siddique's widow for SIT probe, High Court seeks state's reply

Baba Siddique

MUMBAI: Bombay High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the state on a petition filed by Shehzeen Siddique, widow of former Maharashtra minister and NCP neta Baba Siddique, who was shot dead last October in Bandra by three assailants. She sought a court-monitored probe by an SIT or an independent agency, Swati Deshpande. Shehzeen said the investigating agency turned a ‘deaf ear’ to what she wanted to narrate about the alleged involvement of influential persons and builders as part of a conspiracy behind her husband’s murder. Advocates representing Shehzeen said her son Zeeshan’s high-level Y-security cover was removed days after her petition was filed. HC asked the state why police did not record her statement as claimed by her. Special public prosecutor Mahesh Mule said the allegations were incorrect, and police did want to record her statement, but Zeeshan specifically insisted that all queries be directed at him.
