A massive explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Tuesday evening has left nine people dead and around twenty injured, ten of them critically. The blast occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. near the Red Fort Metro Station, Gate No. 1, when an i20 car suddenly exploded, triggering a fire that engulfed nearby vehicles. Eyewitnesses described a deafening noise and scenes of chaos as people rushed for safety. At LNJP Hospital, distressed families continue to search for their missing relatives, many identifying burnt cars through media photos. Among them, Ashutosh, who has been looking for his brother Pankaj since last night, said there has been no official assistance or coordination from authorities. Security agencies including NSG, NIA, and Delhi Police have cordoned off the area. Initial investigations reveal that the car was parked for nearly three hours in the Red Fort parking zone, a high-security area. CCTV footage is being closely examined to determine how the vehicle entered and what caused the explosion. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the site late at night, assuring a full investigation under UAPA Sections 16 and 18. Officials suspect a deeper conspiracy behind the blast.
