Steve Bannon trolled after saying Republicans will go to prison if GOP loses 2028 elections; ‘Weird thing to admit but okay’

Former Trump loyalist and top MAGA activist Steve Bannon once again became a centre of mockery on social media after making a dramatic prediction about the 2028 US presidential election.Speaking at a Conservative event on Thursday, the former Donald Trump strategist warned supporters that a Democratic victory could have harsh consequences for people in the room, including himself.Bannon told attendees: “If we lose the mid-terms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison – myself included. They’re not going to stop; they’re getting more and more and more radical. We have to counter that, and what do we have to counter it with? We have to counter it with more action, more intense action, more urgency.”The clip went viral on X, where netizens ridiculed both tone and message. Democratic strategist Mike Nellis said: “‘if we lose, we’re going to be held accountable for our crimes’ is not the campaign slogan Steve Bannon thinks it is.” British Muslim Journalist Mehdi Hasan reacted by joking that Bannon was “promising everyone a good time.” Several memes also circulated, with users comparing his warning to a movie villain’s speech or pointing out the accidental honesty of the remark. Bannon has been making frequent references to 2028 in recent days. Earlier in the week, he insisted that Donald Trump could somehow serve a third term as president, despite clear constitutional limits. He has also suggested there is “a plan” to get around the restriction and urged the public to “get accommodated” with the idea of Trump appearing on the ballot again. For many online, however, Bannon’s latest warning became another moment of ridicule rather than alarm.
